Job Description

Position Summary

The Corporate Communications Specialist is a position with a wide variety and varying degree of responsibilities, projects, and invigorating challenges for those with a passion for communication and an inquisitive mindset. The position is responsible for an array of communications related projects across multiple platforms ranging from content creation to creative design. The position also shares the responsibilities of investigating customer appeals, complaints, and disputes; presenting investigative findings to the Claim Appeal Committee and/or management; and providing written communication explaining the investigative findings and outcome to the customer. The role has a far reaching impact across the business, a platform for visibility and growth from within, and frequent interactions with all departments of the organization. This position reports to the Operations Support Supervisor.

Essential Functions

COMMUNICATION CREATION & SPECIAL PROJECTS:

  • Create and maintain the Company’s processes and procedures, documents, and forms integral to the efficacy and efficiency of the business
  • Interpret and understand procedures or documents in order to present the information as appropriate for various mediums
  • Maintain document versioning
  • Maintain the Company’s digital document management system and digital library
  • Assist in developing and ensuring adherence to the Company’s style guidelines, branding, processes, procedures, and standards while ensuring they meet business needs
  • Collate various operational reports based on company analytics and metrics
  • Assist in the content and creative development of business proposals
  • Various projects designed to improve the efficiency and efficacy of the Company’s departments
  • Coordinate special mailings
  • Edit, proofread, and format written material

INVESTIGATIONS:

  • Review and investigate incoming appeals, requests for reconsideration, disputes, complaints, or requests for explanation related to the Company’s operation’s processes
  • Investigate the facts and circumstances by auditing policy and claim file documentation, additional documentation submitted or acquired, and consulting with Company subject matter experts
  • Develop a strategy for optimally handling these matters
  • Present the facts and circumstances with a proposed plan of action to the Company’s Claim Appeal Committee and/or management
  • Draft thorough written responses to the requesting party detailing the Company’s analysis, position, and decisions regarding these matters while maintaining the voice and style of the Company

Job Requirements

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in Technical Writing, written presentation of scientific and other types of research, Journalism, Communications, English, or equivalent business or corporate writing experience
  • One or more years of relevant experience, advanced education, or training
